Noise for Airports

Vibrations and how they get to your ears.

Noise for airports is a blog about culture, sound, music, and technology.

You can filter the posts to see just things I wrote or made.

Updated (sometimes) by Nick Seaver.

For the weekend, some robot DJs.

Scratching with cassette tapes. I’ve seen things like this before, but never with such interestingly modified decks/tapes. Linear scratching using the whole cassette and a hacked-in toggle button is pretty neat. See another vid at the via link, or learn more at Alexis “Tapetronic” Malbert’s site.

Nick Seaver / Max Ernst / M.I.A + Diplo / Kelis + Fred Falke + Alan Braxe / Spice Girls

Because not all the music here has to be experimental. This is the introduction from a mix I made back in college (when I still made them), for a reminiscent summer day.

Hey, at least it has Max Ernst in it. (Certain former college roommates consider the Spice Girls/Kelis mash to be the apex of my DJ career, and in retrospect, that appears to be true.)

update: How about that—this is my 100th post. Turning out okay so far, I think. (Hoping the blog can survive the impending school year…)
